This is the QSL card from the Mariner Encounter with Venus/Mercury. The special event station was operated jointly by the JPL Amateur Radio Club and the Boeing Employees Amateur Radio Society to mark man’s first two-planet mission. The station was operated from February 1 to 15, 1974 for the Venus Encounter and between March 25 to April 5, 1974 for the Mercury Encounter.

Special callsigns were issued to both JPL (WS6MVM) and Boeing (WS7MVM) by the FCC for this event. Go to the April 1974 issue of W6VIO Calling for a complete description of this special event. Then check the NASA National Space Science Data Center Mariner 10 Mission page for a detailed mission description and links to the Venus and Mercury Photo galleries.
