Voyager 1 Saturn Encounter QSL Card

Right Front Side

This is the right front side of the QSL card from the Voyager 1 Encounter with Saturn in November 1980. The image on the QSL card shows Saturn and two of its moons, Tethys (above) and Dione.

Left Front Side

This is the left front side of the same QSL card showing a montage of images of the Saturnian system. Seen here is Dione in the forefront, Saturn rising behind, Tethys and Mimas fading in the distance to the right, Enceladus and Rhea off Saturn's rings to the left, and Titan in its distant orbit at the top.

Rear Left Side

Right Rear Side

The images above are from the rear side of the Voyager 1 Saturn Encounter QSL card. See the December, 1980, issue of "W6VIO Calling" for Dick Piety (K6SVP) and Merv MacMedan's (N6NO) excellent recap of this special event.

If you are a Slow Scan TV buff you can access MP3 copies of two sides of the special JPL ARC Voyager encounter with Saturn SSTV cassette recording here.  It has an introduction by Dr. Bruce Murray and narration by Dr. Al Hibbs.

Then checkout the NASA Voyager Mission web page for more detailed information and the NSSDC Saturn Photo Gallery for many high quality images taken during the encounter.
